The video-projection Zoubek shows parts of the sculpture by Olbram Zoubek and Eva Kmentová, located on the facade of the city hall in Ústí nad Labem (formerly SKNV - North Bohemian Regional National Committee), which was created in 1965.

 

In 1993, the sculpture was removed from the facade, cut up, and taken to the underground deposit

of the Ústí nad Labem museum, where most of its parts are still decaying.

With the help of Mgr. Martin Krsek from the Museum of Ústí nad Labem and Bc. Anna Lišková from

the Centre for Documentation and Digitization of Cultural Heritage at the Department of History of the Department of Arts, UJEP, I managed to scan the parts in 3D and then, with the help of animation, assemble them into an approximate original form. At the same time, the process of archaeological assembling created by 3D animation represents a challenging process of handling heavy parts and their complex assembling.

This work is only the first part of the process of artistic work with this sculpture, my aim is also to produce

a theoretical thesis exploring this modern iconoclasm; the destruction of often high-quality works which themes are bound to the ideology of their time.

The final output of my artistic work will be a video mapping animation of the original location where I would like to - at least symbolically - return the sculpture.
